Stone repairs are a great way to bring back to life lightly surface damaged masonry without a need for major disruption.
Typically this would involve lightly tooling the surface and removing spalling/flakey material until reaching a dense enough surface suitable to hold the repair. All of our colours are matched at our Edinburgh stonemasonry supplier Masons Mortar.
Once applied this would be left to set for 48-72 hours before buffing back and tool finished to match surrounding masonry. If you find yourself breaching 30-35mm before reaching dense enough stone I recommend a stone indent.
This being a partial replacement cutting away the suspect area then fixing a stone in place with dowels and stone glue. Moulded indents will usually be dressed prior to installation depending on size of the area. Smaller indents can be dressed in situ.
